Meeting Support Grants

Background

MeHAF has been funding meetings and events that focus on expanding health and healthcare access in Maine since 2002. Initially a part of the Discretionary Grants program, the volume of requests within that program for funding to support meetings and events led us to create a separate program for this purpose.

Purpose

Meeting Support grants fund organizations to gather the community, partners, stakeholders, and others at conferences, workshops, educational series, collaborative partnership building, and listening sessions, to name a few examples. Meetings can be small or large, regional or statewide. The program aims to be a low-barrier option and the application process has evolved over time to make it as accessible as possible. Grants are made on a rolling basis throughout the year, but organizations are only eligible to receive one Meeting Support grant per calendar year.

Highlights

  • Meeting Support funds can be used to offset the costs of attendance for members of the community who might not be able to attend otherwise due to financial barriers.
  • Meeting Support applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the event date to be considered for funding, in order to allow sufficient time for review, decision-making, and payment prior to the event. We do not fund past events retrospectively.
  • With a simple, one-step application process, the Meeting Support program offers a low-barrier introduction to MeHAF and to our online grants management system and grantmaking practices.
