Governance
MeHAF’s Trustees, Community Advisory Committee, and staff are committed to best practices in nonprofit governance, accountability, and transparency for all aspects of our work. Board meetings are open to the public and approved Board meeting minutes and other essential documents are posted below.
Corporate Bylaws
The foundation’s operations are guided by MeHAF’s Corporate Bylaws. Amendments to the bylaws must be reviewed by the Maine Attorney General and approved by the Maine Superior Court.
Board Conflict of Interest Policy
The Board has adopted a comprehensive Conflict of Interest Policy to manage conflicts to ensure that decisions are made in an open, unbiased, objective, and transparent way.
Audited Financial Statements
Each year we participate in an audit of our financial statements. This report summarizes matters required by professional standards to communicate oversight of our financial reporting process.
Tax Return (IRS Form 990-PF)
MeHAF is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public benefit corporation, which is more commonly known as a “charitable corporation.” Established as a private nonoperating foundation, each year we file a federal 990-PF tax return with the Internal Revenue Service. MeHAF's 990-PF forms are available on Guidestar’s national database of nonprofit organizations.
